Management of residual materials (production residues) - ICI ON RECYC approach
Establish a system for collecting and processing residual materials to minimize landfilling.

By following this action plan, the organization will be able to establish an efficient system for the collection and treatment of residual materials, thereby reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and promoting more sustainable waste management.
1. Needs and Objectives Assessment:
- Analyze waste types: Identify the different categories of residual materials generated by the organization.
- Define landfill reduction objectives: Set clear objectives for reducing waste sent to landfill.
2. Collection system design:
- Establish collection procedures: Develop procedures for selective waste collection, including the separation of recyclable, compostable and non-recyclable materials.
- Install collection equipment: Set up sorting bins and containers adapted to each type of waste at different collection points.
3. Establish the treatment system:
- Choose treatment methods: Select the appropriate treatment methods (recycling, composting, energy recovery) for each type of waste.
- Collaborate with partners: Identify and establish partnerships with companies specializing in recycling, composting or energy recovery.
4. Staff training and awareness:
- Train employees: Organize training sessions for staff on new waste sorting, collection and treatment procedures.
- Promote sustainable practices: Raise awareness among employees on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling to minimize landfilling.
5. Develop a waste management plan:
- Develop a detailed plan: Create a waste management plan that integrates the collection, sorting, treatment and reduction of waste sent to landfill.
- Define responsibilities: Assign specific responsibilities for waste management within the organization.
6. Establish monitoring and control mechanisms:
- Establish performance indicators: Define KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the waste collection and treatment system.
- Monitor performance: Set up monitoring systems to regularly assess the volumes of waste collected, treated and sent to landfill.
7. Continuous optimization:
- Analyze results: Review performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Adapt processes: Adjust procedures and practices based on results to optimize the waste management system.
8. Communication and reporting:
- Inform stakeholders: Communicate results and progress made in waste management to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare reports: Write regular reports on waste volumes, recycling rates, and landfill reductions achieved.
9. Reassessment and update:
- Review objectives: Periodically assess the objectives set and adjust strategies according to new regulatory requirements or opportunities for improvement.
- Update practices: Review and update the collection and treatment system to adapt to changes in waste management practices.
